OUIDEA: US Immigration – New Changes for Non-Immigrant Visas

As of September 6, 2025, the U.S. Department of State has updated its official guidance:

      • Non-immigrant visa applications (B, L, H, E, O, etc.) must now be filed in the applicant’s country of nationality or legal residence.
      • This means it is no longer possible to apply for or renew a visa in a third country, a practice that was previously permitted.
      • Practical advice: Plan your visa process as far in advance as possible. Within this timeline, factor in a return trip of at least 2 weeks to your employees’ country of residence or nationality to avoid any risk of refusal.
