August 1, 2022: SMIC increase in France
The SMIC is revalued today, Monday, August 1, 2022, and goes from 1645.58 to 1678.95 euros gross per month. This automatic revaluation of 2.01% is a direct consequence of the inflation affecting France, estimated at 5.8% since May 2021.
SMIC / immigration: what impact?

The SMIC (Minimum Growth Wage) is the basis for calculating the remuneration necessary to request some immigration status. If the minimum wage increases, employers must increase the wages of employees benefiting from these immigration statuses.

The impacted statuses that must respect the minimum wage (35 basic hours) are as follows:

  • Employee (“Salarié ») : 1678.05 euros gross per month
  • Job search – business creation (“Recherche d’emploi – création d’entreprise”)  – SMIC x 1.5 times: 2518.43 euros gross per month
  • Talent passport – employee on assignment (“Passeport talent – salarié en mission ») – SMIC x 1.8: 3022.11 euros gross per month
  • Talent passport – qualified employee / Young innovative company (“Passeport talent – salarié qualifié/Jeune entreprise innovante”) –  SMIC X2: 3357.9 euros gross per month

The Talent Passport – Eu Blue Card status is not impacted by this increase, as it is based not on the SMIC, but on a fixed reference salary established by the Ministry of the Interior.
