France Immigration: 3 Major Changes at the Start of 2026

France Immigration: 3 Major Changes at the Start of 2026

Dear all,

The entire Oui Immigration team wishes you a very happy New Year ✨

We sincerely hope that 2026 has started on a positive note and that the months ahead will be filled with success, meaningful projects, peace of mind, and great opportunities both personally and professionally.

On our side, this year will be strongly focused on client care and service quality: dedicated workshops, continuous process improvements, tailored support, and special offers are currently in the works, all with one goal in mind to serve you even better.

This month, we would like to highlight three essential updates:

Increase of the minimum salary threshold

The French minimum salary has been increased to €1,823.03 gross per month. This change impacts several immigration statuses that rely on this threshold, including:

      • Employee status,Job seeker / Business creation status, certain Passeport Talent categories (Corporate OfficerArtistic ProfessionInternational ReputationBusiness Creation).

👉 Please note: no impact on Passeport Talent – EU Blue Card and Qualified Employee statuses. Our team remains available to review individual situations and answer any questions you may have.

Progressive rollout of the civic test

The civic test required for multi-year residence permits is currently being rolled out progressively across Prefectures, Consulates, and accredited language centers.

👉 You can find our dedicated article here: France Immigration 2026 – Everything you need to know about the new mandatory civic test. We will keep you informed as this measure is further implemented in practice.

Significant delays in certain Prefectures

The Palaiseau and Le Raincy Prefectures are currently experiencing severe staff shortages, resulting in major processing delays. According to our information, Passeport Talent applications in Palaiseau may currently take up to 18 months.

💡 Our recommendation: whenever possible, anticipate and guide employees to settle in municipalities linked to other Prefectures. We would be happy to discuss this strategically with you.

In an shaky international environment, we are committed to remaining your trusted anchor for all immigration matters in France and worldwide. Warm regards and see you soon!
